Football C-. Not at all close enuf to expectations: need 2 more wins, not enuf dominance over opponents, a Mizzou loss, too many empty seats.

basketball - see football (75-64 loss to MO almost means a D)

Women's bball F

About right. I'd give mens bb a "C" - expectations were pretty high, and if not for the ncaa win, grade would have been "C-". Hopefully the new AD can improve fb/bb and add more sports - mens swimming, hockey and soccer, also get mens t&f back to where it was in the 70's with virgin, durkin, ehizuelan, mango, laz, phillips, et al.

Mens Basketball a 'B'? Are you serious? Try C-/D+. They performed woefully short of expectations (how did those finall four shirts that Bruce made up work out?) and didn't win two games in a row after January. Middle of the pack B10 and another year on the bubble for a school like UI is no 'B'.

And likewise, the womens team should have gotten a big fat 'F'.

However, I'd give Ron Guenther being done as AD a grade of 'priceless'.

Football should get a B+. Two new coordinators, no QBs that had ever played a down of college football and a patchwork secondary. Yet the team still went bowling and dominated a reputedly good Baylor team. Also, we made fools of Northwestern in Chicago.

Basketball should get a C-. A team full of seniors and talented underclassmen that expected to make it to the Final Four (their words, not mine). Losses to UIC, Indiana and Penn State. A regressed Tyler Griffey, who looked promising at the end of his freshman year. A WTF year from highly ranked Meyers Leonard. Fail to win a Big Ten Tournament game. Bench and then lose the team's most promising freshman in years. The only thing that prevents it from a D or worse was the strong performance against both UNLV and KU.

How can Women's basketball be anything but an F?

And Men's basketball last year was a D.

Team was preseason #13 in the country.

Won nothing.

Not competitive in anything.
