McFadden gears up for Sochi Paralympics

We've already seen one University of Illinois alum win an Olympic medal in a new sport for that athlete  And in the next week, we could see another athlete do the same.

Famed wheelchair racer Tatyana McFadden is competing in cross-country skiing at the Sochi Paralympics, which get underway Friday.

McFadden has only been skiing for about a year but has already identified some events where she has a chance to perform well and some events that will be more difficult.

The Paralympics will also be a homecoming for McFadden, as she was born in Russia before being adopted to America.  McFadden said both her birth mother and her adopted mother will watch her compete.

Also competing in the Paralympics are two others with ties to the UI wheelchair racing team:  Travis Dodson and Aaron Pike will compete in cross-country skiing and biathlon.
