Illini offer 2018 forward

CHAMPAIGN — Illinois' pursuit of frontcourt depth has been an ongoing process this spring. It continued Monday with an offer to Class of 2018 small forward Anthony Higgs.

Welcome to campus, Ayo

CHAMPAIGN — Ayo Dosunmu isn’t alone among the champions Brad Underwood recruited to Illinois in the 2018 class with his pair of Class 3A state titles at Morgan Park.

Alan Griffin won every New York title this past season as a senior at Archbishop Stepinac. Andres Feliz won a national championship at Northwest Florida State in the 2016-17 season.

June 20 Illinois basketball chat

Wednesday, June 20, 2018 - 12:30pm

Ayo Dosunmu is in Champaign and on campus. Samba Kane isn't. The whirlwind that is the Illinois basketball offseason continues to swirl. Will Brad Underwood use any of his three remaining open scholarships? Who might be targeted? It won't be Dima Zdor, who committed to Weber State. Is a graduate transfer big man still a possibility? Can the Class of 2019 bring any hope?

Beyond the arc: NCAA tinkering waters down product

There's really no true offseason for college basketball. Here are three things that caught our college basketball writer and AP Top 25 voter's attention in the last week:

Tipoff: Top 10 best in-state players

Brad Underwood and Co. have shown they can recruit nationally, but landing in-state talent — like Ayo Dosunmu — never hurts. Our college basketball writer breaks down the 10 best players in the state, regardless of class:

1. E.J. Liddell, Belleville West

Tate | Shoe companies hold plenty of recruiting sway

If, by chance, Illinois happens to draw Indiana for its annual December date in Chicago's United Center, you could expect attendance there to quadruple from last year's 5,000 to 20,000.

Conversation with Chicago Tribune college basketball writer Shannon Ryan

The state of Illinois has put forth just two NCAA tournament teams the last two seasons after multiple years of zero representation. Chicago Tribune college basketball writer Shannon Ryan breaks down the state of the state heading into 2018-19:

Ayo, Team USA take home gold

ST. CATHARINES, Canada — When Ayo Dosunmu arrives on campus to join his Brad Underwood's roster, the Illini freshman will have something few other newcomers do.

A gold medal.

Dosunmu and his Team USA teammates charged to a 113-74 victory over Canada in the FIBA Americas U18 Championship on Saturday night, as the Americans won their fifth consecutive gold medal.
