Badgers chew up UI women

The Illinois women's soccer team fell behind 3-0 in the first half Friday at Wisconsin and never recovered in a 4-0 Big Ten Conference loss in Madison.
Outshot 16-8, the Illini fell to 4-7 overall, 0-6 in the Big Ten. Wisconsin, with two goals from Lindsay Hoelter, improved to 3-7, 2-4.

In women's golf: Illini eighth.

The Illinois women's golf team tied its best round of the season with 311 Friday in the first round of the Lady Kat Invite in Lexington, Ky.
Illini senior Karen Karmazin and freshman Jessica Hayes each shot a 4-over-par 76 and are tied for 17th place.
Michigan State leads with a 300.

In baseball: Orange wins series.

Sophomore Mitch Walk had three runs batted in, leading the Illinois Orange squad to an 11-7 victory against the Blue team Friday and a 3-2 Orange and Blue World Series victory.
Trailing 3-0, the Orange team sent 10 batters to the plate in the fourth inning and 12 in the fifth, scoring 11 runs off Blue team reliever Jeff Chiles.
Orange starter Tom Trayser earned his second victory of the series by giving up two hits and one run in three innings.
