Freshman Emily Brown recorded a hat trick and junior Kelly Buszkiewicz had a goal and three assists to pace Illinois to a 7-1 women's soccer victory over Washington University of St. Louis on Wednesday night in Champaign.

The Illini also received two goals from freshman Lisa Baldwin.

"We're trying to peak for the Big Ten tournament (Nov. 6-8 in State College, Pa.)," Illinois coach Jillian Ellis said.

The UI plays Friday at Missouri and closes the regular season at home Sunday against Oakland.

"The next matches will set the tone (for the tournament)," Ellis said.

Illinois is ranked eighth in the Amateur Wrestling News preseason Top 20.

The Illini, who finished seventh in the NCAA Championships last season, return two All-Americans in junior Carl Perry (141 pounds) and senior Karl Roesler (heavyweight).

Six Illini are listed in the AWN individual rankings. Roesler and sophomore Adam Tirapelle (149) each are third at their weight classes. Perry is ranked fourth, sophomore Pat Quirk (197) is 12th, junior Steve Doerrer (125) is 13th and sophomore Ben King (174) is 19th.

Oklahoma State, coming off a third-place NCAA finish, tops the preseason poll. Six Big Ten Conference teams are ranked. Joining Illinois are No. 2 Iowa, No. 3 Minnesota, No. 4 Penn State, No. 9 Northwestern and No. 16 Michigan State.

The Illini open their season Nov. 14 against Missouri at Granite City.
