Sixth-ranked Penn State got two goals and an assist from sophomore Christie Welsh on Friday night as the Nittany Lions shut out Illinois 3-0 in State College, Pa.

The Illini, who were outshot 10-7, were led by Heidi Holtzman, who had two shots on goal.

"Although we're not pleased with the results, I'm not at all disappointed with our performance," UI coach Tricia Taliaferro said.

Goalkeeper AnneMarie Hennes made two saves for the Illini (7-5, 3-3 Big Ten).
