Squad adds five players

UI soccer coach Tricia Taliaferro received national letters of intent from five players on Wednesday: defender Kelly Campbell, midfielder Paula Faherty, defender Christen Karniski, midfielder Natasha Karniski and forward Laura Redmond.

“I´m very happy about our recruiting class. There are several players who will be able to make an immediate impact in the program,” Taliaferro said.

Campbell, a high school All-American, is from Gaithersburg, Md., and participated in the Olympic Development program. Faherty´s Lake Braddock Secondary School in Burke, Va., earned a spot in the state´s Final Four in 2000.

The Karniskis are from Iowa City West High, and their squad reached the state finals in 2000. Redmond of Hermitage High in Richmond, Va., was an all-district, all-region and all-metro selection.
