Big Ten honors Illini goalie

PARK RIDGE — For the second week in a row, Illinois goalkeeper Steph Panozzo is the Big Ten’s choice for Defensive Player of the Week in women’s soccer.

The Illini junior, who shared this week's award with Wisconsin goalkeeper Michele Dalton, recorded seven saves in a pair of victories. After earning a shutout against Northwestern on Thursday, Panozzo extended her streak of minutes played without allowing a goal to 547 before Nebraska scored on Sunday in Illinois’ 3-1 win.

In Big Ten-only matches, Panozzo is tied for first in shutouts (4), ranks second in goals-against average
(0.67) and is fifth in save percentage (.794).
