Flaws' hat trick leads rout

CHAMPAIGN — No Vanessa DiBernardo, no problem.

The Illini star, who was called up to the U.S. Women’s national team that will face Mexico on Tuesday in Washington, D.C., missed Sunday’s game.

No worries, Janelle Flaws scored three goals to give the Illini a 5-1 victory against Illinois State.

“On a night without Vanessa, it’s great to see someone like that step up,” Illini coach Janet Rayfield said of Flaws. “Great night for her and certainly, I think, one of many to come.”

Allie Osoba and Megan Pawloski also connected for Illinois. The lone ISU goal was scored by Centennial product Dagny Olson.
