Softball sweeps Iowa

IOWA CITY, Iowa — Alex Booker went 2 for 4 with two RBI and Illinois defeated Iowa 6-3 in the second game of a Big Ten Conference softball doubleheader Tuesday, extending the Illini’s winning streak to five games.

Winning pitcher Pepper Gay scattered six hits in seven innings for Illinois (16-25, 6-11 Big Ten), which swept a weekend series against Indiana.

In the opener Tuesday, an 8-5 UI win, Kylie Johnson and Brittany Sanchez each went 3 for 4 with two RBI. Winning pitcher Shelese Arnold allowed five hits in 41/3 innings.

Dasso adds tennis player. Louise Kwong of Toronto will join UI coach Michelle Dasso’s women’s tennis team this fall.
Kwong has two Canadian national titles, winning the U12 and U14 championships.
