A slew of Illini Hall of Famers took part in a special three-hour edition of "Saturday SportsTalk" live from Chicago.

Among the guests who joined Steve Kelly and Loren Tate: Josh Whitman, Lou Henson, Dana Howard, Jim Grabowski, Darrin Fletcher, Dave Downey, Tara Hurless, Kendall Gill, Bruce Douglas, Deron Williams, Nancy Brookhart Cherin and Scott Langley.

Kowalczyk to retire

The man who bridged the gap in leadership for the Illinois athletic department from the time Mike Thomas was fired to the time Josh Whitman was hired will retire from the university.

Paul Kowalczyk will step aside as the Illini's executive senior associate athletic director, effective Aug. 31, following more than 30 years of working in college athletics.

IOWA CITY, Iowa — The third-ranked Illinois men's gymnastics team earned a narrow 404.700-401.850 victory over No. 10 Iowa on Saturday at the Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

The Illini won four individual titles, including Sebastian Quiana on floor (14.300), Brandon Ngai on pommel horse (14.800), Alex Diab on still rings (14.550) and Tyson Bull on horizontal bar (14.100).
