In men's track & field:
Illini fall in dual. Yawusa Kinda and Gary Miller each won two events for Illinois in a 92-77 loss to Iowa in a Big Ten dual meet at the University of Iowa Recreation Building in Iowa City, Iowa.
Kinda finished first in the 400 meters in 48.71 seconds, and Miller claimed the 600 in 1 minute, 20.71 seconds. Each ran on the Illini's first-place 1,600 relay unit. The pair combined with Hendrik Maartens and Gakologelwang Masheto for a 3:14.64 clocking.
Casey Fonnesbeck captured the weight throw with a personal-best heave of 55 feet, 0-¼ inch. That distance ranks the junior seventh on the all-time UI list in the event.
Azeez Shogbuyi of Illinois won the long jump with a personal-best 22-11.
In men's tennis:
Illini dominate foe. The Illini won seven of eight matches against the host team in the South Florida Spring Invitational at Tampa, Fla.
Brian Livingston and Waylon Chin each won in singles and doubles.
In swimming & diving:
Clapp in top three. Marissa Clapp placed third in the 200-yard breaststroke for Illinois on the final day of the Indiana Quad meet in Bloomington, Ind. The former Bismarck-Henning standout was timed in 2:18.80.
Illinois finished last in the four-team meet.
