Illini doubles team still alive

The University of Illinois doubles team of Jeff Laski and David Treadwell remained alive Monday in prequalifying at the ITA All-American Championships tennis tournament in Austin, Texas.

The Illini duo beat teams from New Mexico State and Alabama, and was scheduled to face a tandem from Washington today with a berth in the qualifying round at stake.

Meanwhile, Laski and fellow Illini Matt Snyder and Brady Blain bowed out Monday in singles prequalifying. The UI's Oliver Freelove begins qualifying play today in an effort to reach the main draw of the tournament.

Cary Franklin and Gavin Sontag of Illinois have berths in the main draw in singles, and the Franklin-Freelove combo has a berth in doubles.
