See where Jeff Huth rated Illini men's tennis in his all-sports rankings here

Former Illini tennis star Kevin Anderson - and his big serve - nearly pulled off a stunner in the first round at Wimbledon today.

Instead, No. 7 seed Nikolay Davydenko outlasted Anderson 3-6, 6-7 (3), 7-6 (3), 7-5, 9-7 to advance. Anderson had 36 aces, and it took a major comeback from Davydenko to survive the South African, who is ranked No. 95 in the world.

Another former Illini, Rajeev Ram, had a tougher time today. No. 5 Andy Roddick beat Ram 6-3, 6-2, 6-2. Ram is ranked 92nd.
