UI's Felicien takes second

Illinois freshman Perdita Felicien finished second Friday night in the 60-meter hurdles finals at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in Fayetteville, Ark.

With her 8.00-second clocking, Felicien earned All-America honors. Ohio State's Donica Merriman won in 7.95.

In the men's 800 prelims, UI junior Jason Van Swol qualified for the finals in 1 minute, 48.56 seconds.

UI senior Tom Marchese did not clear the opening height in the pole vault.

Indiana's Jennifer Brown, a St. Joseph-Ogden product, tied for 10th in the women's shot put.
