Volleyball team's match at Texas back on after bomb threat

The Illini volleyball team's match against Texas tonight will be played despite a bomb threat this morning on the University of Texas campus, according to UI coach Kevin Hambly.

The campus was evacuated at about 9 a.m., but it was scheduled to reopen at noon.

Hambly said he was told that the Texas Invitational would go on as scheduled today, although the original starting times might be pushed back. Illinois and the host Longhorns were scheduled to play at 6 p.m.

After Hambly was contacted, a notice posted on the Longhorns' website stated that all sports events on the campus today would be played as scheduled, including the Texas Invitational opener between Central Florida and Cincinnati at 2:30, followed by Illinois-Texas at 6 p.m.

Hambly said his team will not have access to Gregory Gymnasium, site of the tournament, for its prematch practice today. However, the Illini will be able to practice at an annex gym on campus, he said.
