Volleyball recruit on U.S. team

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Illinois recruit Jordyn Poulter was selected to the U.S. Girls’ Youth National Volleyball Team that will compete in the FIVB Girls’ Under-18 World Championship starting next week in Thailand.

The Aurora, Colo., native is one of two setters on the 12-player U.S. roster that was chosen from a pool of 16 athletes who took part in a third tryout session this month in Anaheim, Calif.

Poulter, a Class of 2015 recruit, is a member of the Englewood, Colo.-based Front Range Volleyball Club and attends Eaglecrest High School in Centennial, Colo.

The U.S. qualified for the Girls’ U-18 World Championship by winning the 2012 NORCECA Girls’ Youth Continental Championship last August in Mexico. The world tournament is July 25 to Aug. 4 in Nakhon Ratchisima, Thailand.
