Illini volleyball drops to No. 24

Following an 0-2 weekend, Illinois fell eight spots to No. 24 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association Top 25 poll. The weekly national rankings were released Monday.

The Illini (4-6), lost nonconference road matches to then-No. 15 North Carolina and to unranked Duke. The setbacks extended Illinois’ losing streak to four, including three against ranked opponents.

The Illini are among eight Big Ten teams in the latest Top 25, a group led by No. 1 Penn State. Others include No. 9 Minnesota, No. 10 Michigan, No. 12 Nebraska, No. 13 Ohio State, No. 15 Michigan State and No. 20 Purdue.
