Surging Illini volleyball team back in Top 25

CHAMPAIGN — After a six-week absence, the Illini volleyball team is back in the Top 25.

Following a pair of victories against ranked opponents last week, Illinois moved into the No. 25 spot in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association poll, which was released Monday.

The Illini (12-12) defeated then-No. 17 Michigan and then-No. 13 Michigan State to return to the national rankings.

Illinois was last ranked during the week of Sept. 23-29, when it was No. 24. However, the Illini had continued to receive votes each week since.
