Mon, Aug. 11: Transfer picks UI women's basketball team

CRANBERRY, Pa. – Susan Blauser signed out of high school to play for Theresa Grentz. Three years later, the two have finally hooked up.

The 6-foot forward today said she'll transfer to the University of Illinois and rejoin Grentz, who recruited her while coaching at Rutgers. In two seasons at Rutgers, Blauser made the Big East All-Rookie team as a freshman and averaged 10.1 points and 6.6 rebounds last season.

"I'm every impressed with what's going on at Illinois," said Blauser, adding former Rutgers teammate Kylie Martin, a 6-2 forward, also will transfer to the UI.

Neither player will be eligible for the 1997-98 season.
