Moore nets Big Ten honor

ROSEMONT — Illini forward Amber Moore, who averaged a double-double in three games last week, was named Big Ten Player of the Week in women’s basketball on Monday.

The fifth-year senior averaged 25.0 points and 10.0 rebounds in victories against Valparaiso, Mississippi Valley State and Alcorn State. Moore also contributed 2.7 steals per game.

On Tuesday against Valparaiso, the Detroit native broke the program record for career three-pointers. Two days later, the 5-foot-11 Moore racked up 27 points and 19 rebounds against MVSU. The rebound total tied the eighth-highest single-game figure in program history.

The Player of the Week honor was the first of Moore’s career.
