In boys' golf

At Monticello. Mahomet-Seymour edged second-place Monticello by seven strokes at a four-team tournament in Monticello. Alex Strube collected individual medalist honors with a nine-hole score of 38 to pace the Bulldogs to a victory. M-S produced a team score of 178, compared to 185 from the Sages, who were led by Garrett O'Brien's 42.

At Saybrook. Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley claimed top team honors at the Ridgeview Invitational at Indian Springs Golf Course in Saybrook. GCMS' aggregate score of 358 outpaced Blue Ridge (377), Dwight (388) and Fisher (456). The Falcons' Connor Birkey was the individual runner-up with an 82, five strokes behind Dwight's Andrew Curl. Blue Ridge's Aaron Jayne (82) was third followed by Cole Maxey (87) of GCMS and Gavin Raines (88) of Blue Ridge.

At Normal. Champaign Central led all area teams in the Raider Redbird Classic at Weibring Golf Club in Normal. The Maroons produced a team score of 339 to place 15th overall while Centennial was 18th (370). Peoria Notre Dame won the event, thanks to a team result of 295. Justin McCoy led the Champaign-area schools by finishing in a tie for 10th with a 76.

At Danville. Danville and Bismarck-Henning-Rossville-Alvin played a match against one another at Turtle Run Golf Club in Danville, with the Blue Devils outperforming the Vikings. BHRA finished in 193 strokes compared to 242 for Danville. BHRA's Kevin Clapp (44) led all scorers with teammates Izaiah Lusk (47) and Michael Chochola (48) also performing well. Andrew Kittell paced the Vikings with a score of 52.

At Olympia. Prairie Central won the Spartan Scramble with a total of 205. The two-man team of Carter Nowak and Josh Kilcullen won top honors with a 9-under 63.

At Rantoul. Schlarman won its dual meet against Hoopeston Area by a 176-269 margin. Gabe Huddleston and Mark Lucas claimed top individual honors for the Cornjerkers with a pair of 44's.

In girls' golf

At Windsor. Alaina Bowie picked up right where she left off last season. The St. Thomas More junior carded a 74 to win individual medalist honors in Tuesday's Effingham/Teutopolis Invitational at Fox Prairie Golf Club in Windsor. The Sabers won the five-team event with a team score of 320 followed by Effingham St. Anthony (330), Effingham (337), Teutopolis (396) and Oblong (442). STM also received strong results from Sammy Miller (80) and Mia Kirby (81).JOE VOZZELLI
