N-G volleyball Top 10: Sept. 3, 2018

A few red-hot teams continue to shine in the local high school volleyball scene. For preps coordinator COLIN LIKAS, that means there are adjustments to be made as he checks back in with his latest area rankings:

1. St. Thomas More, 5-0 (1)

Sabers should get a quality test Tuesday when they visit Paxton-Buckley-Loda. St. Joseph-Ogden looms on Sept. 20.

2. St. Joseph-Ogden, 5-0 (4)

Spartans are big gainers after knocking off Cissna Park. A rugged week is ahead with Champaign Central and Oakwood.

3. Cissna Park, 5-2 (2)

Timberwolves take a step back after that defeat to St. Joseph-Ogden. They'll take on Judah Christian on Tuesday.

4. Oakwood 7-1 (3)

Comets had a light previous week, but victory over Heritage was a good one. SJ-O and Chrisman come in next.

5. Unity 8-1 (5)

Rockets showed well at the Casey-Westfield Tourney, losing just once. Clinton will pay Unity a visit on Tuesday.

6. Champaign Central, 9-3 (8)

Maroons are heating up, nearly taking the Centennial Charger Invitational title. SJ-O comes to Combes Gym next.

7. Paxton-Buckley-Loda, 6-1 (—)

Panthers debut in these rankings after dumping Watseka last week. STM and Clifton Central are on the latest docket.

8. Cerro Gordo, 8-1 (9)

Broncos continue to roll after losing on opening night. Villa Grove and the Decatur Lutheran Invitational await.

9. Blue Ridge, 9-1 (10)

Knights have defeated their last three foes. Could they run into Cerro Gordo at the Decatur Lutheran Invitational?

10. Watseka, 7-4 (6)

Despite some slip-ups at the Manteno Early Bird Classic, Warriors still imposing ahead of trip to Hoopeston Area.
