With the season two weeks old and the weather mostly cooperating, preps coordinator COLIN LIKAS unveils his first rankings of 2019:

1. St. Joseph-Ogden 4-0 1 Spartans still program to beat with Alabama commit Bailey Dowling in the fold, topped GCMS to open year.

2. Tuscola 8-0 2 Warriors busiest of all local squads, own victories over GCMS, Villa Grove and Monticello in March action.

3. Unity 5-1 — Rockets starred at the Southern Warrior Classic in Tennessee and own narrow triumph over Villa Grove.

4. Fisher 3-0 7 Bunnies won their last two games — versus Rantoul and Oakwood — by a combined 5-1 margin.

5. Argenta-Oreana 4-2 4 Bombers retooling after last year's Class 1A third-place finish, picked up solid win over weekend at LeRoy.

6. Rantoul 4-1 — Eagles' early win streak ended by Fisher; they'll try to restart it today against BHRA and St. Thomas More.

7. Blue Ridge 5-0 — Knights' offense is rolling thus far, putting up 16 or more runs in four victories, including 20 at Midland.

8. Mahomet-Seymour 2-2 9 Bulldogs fueled by opening-day home win over Villa Grove, splitting doubleheader at Galesburg on Saturday.

9. Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley 0-2 8 Falcons' only two games were versus St. Joseph-Ogden and Tuscola, and they took former to eight innings.

10. Georgetown-Ridge Farm 2-0 — Buffaloes blasted Watseka to earn a quality win, will look for more of the same Tuesday at tough Villa Grove.
