Final N-G girls' soccer Top 10: June 9, 2019

Preps coordinator COLIN LIKAS takes one final look at the area's girls' soccer programs following the postseason for our All-Area team:


1. Mahomet-Seymour, 24-2 (1)

Bulldogs couldn't find enough offense versus Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin in Class 2A sectional semifinal, still dominated locally.

2. St. Thomas More, 13-9-2 (2)

Sabers were slowed by St. Teresa in Class 1A regional final after contesting rigorous schedule area-wise and across the state.

3. Champaign Central, 8-10-1 (3)

Maroons stumbled against Normal U-High in Class 2A regional semifinal, struggled in second half of regular-season slate.

4. Centennial, 7-14-1 (5)

Chargers eclipsed Urbana before falling to Mahomet-Seymour in rugged Class 2A regional title bout, owned win over Central earlier.

5. Uni High, 7-6-2 (4)

After tie with Warrensburg-Latham in regular-season finale, Illineks were stifled by Pana in Class 1A W-L Regional semifinal.

6. Judah Christian, 10-9-3 (6)

Tribe ended campaign with Class 1A regional shutout at hands of St. Thomas More, as well as a roster dotted with injuries.

7. Monticello, 8-14-1 (8)

Sages' strong improvement was halted by St. Teresa in Class 1A regional semifinal, but Sages left feeling good about future.

8. Arthur Okaw Christian, 9-3 (7)

Conquering Riders' inaugural season included victories over Springfield Lanphier and Meridian, close loss to Uni High.

9. Urbana, 5-11-6 (9)

Tigers' draw-filled year ended at hands of Centennial in Class 2A regional semifinal, 5-0 score not indicative of bout's closeness.

10. Danville, 4-14-3 (10)

Vikings overpowered by Mahomet-Seymour in Class 2A regional semifinal, won two of last five matches overall.
