Greco gives Maroons a boost

More often than not, Nashla Vega finished the exchange.
Greco had four assists and Vega had three goals in Champaign Central's 5-0 rout of Springfield Southeast in girls' soccer Wednesday. The Maroons (4-2) scored all of their goals in the first half.

In baseball:
Centennial 4, Rochester 1. Don McDuffee had two hits and scored three runs and Jake Flessner had two hits and an RBI for the host Chargers (10-1).

Mount Zion 9, Central 8. Mark Pataky had two hits, Doug Kyrouac had two RBI and Harrison Freeland had two RBI for the visiting Maroons (9-6).

Fisher 5, Heyworth 2. John Demblon struck out seven and hit a triple to lead the Bunnies (7-7) past the visiting Hornets.

Georgetown-Ridge Farm 15, Armstrong-Potomac 1. Travis Digby went 2 for 5 with three RBI for the visiting Buffaloes (11-4, 4-0 Vermilion Valley Conference) against the Trojans (5-6, 2-2).

Charleston 15, Rantoul 7. The Eagles used four pitchers to try to stop the visiting Trojans, who had 16 hits.

Milford 5, CPCI 3. Michael Bell went 1 for 2 with two RBI for the visiting Bearcats. CPCI's Reed Anderson went 2 for 4 and Phil Kaeb was 2 for 3.

Clinton 10, Central A&M 2. Colin Duling struck out 11 and Ian DeJaynes hit a three-run homer for the Maroons (6-1) against the Raiders.

Cerro Gordo 2, Sangamon Valley 1. Drew Minton went 2 for 3 with an RBI and Nash Ramage went 2 for 3 for the Broncos (5-6, 1-2 Little Okaw Valley Conference).

Sullivan 8, Shelbyville 7. Chris Marrs hit a home run, Alex Wood went 3 for 3 and Tyler Frerichs went 2 for 4 with two RBI for the Redskins (7-0, 1-0 Okaw Valley Conference).

Meridian 9, Monticello 1. Mike Oliger went 2 for 3 with an RBI for the Sages (3-4) against the Hawks.

Tremont 1, LeRoy 0. Tyler Bruning struck out 14 in nine innings, but the Panthers (5-7, 2-1 Heart of Illinois Conference) fell to the Turks, who got a game-winning RBI double in the 18th inning.

East Central 15, Martinsville 1. Colten Allen, Rich Little and Spencer Lowe each had two hits for the Panthers (5-7-1, 2-0 LOVC).

PBL 4, Bismarck-Henning 3. Cameron Lovrant went 2 for 4 with two RBI as the host Panthers (10-2) overcame Michael Grant's 2-for-3 day for the Blue Devils (3-8).

Schlarman 2, Salt Fork 1. Aaron Lewellyn had two RBI to lead the host Hilltoppers (3-7, 2-1 VVC) against the Storm.

In softball:
Urbana 6, Mahomet-Seymour 4. The Tigers (3-5) won their third straight behind Jasmine White's three hits and three RBI.

Charleston 12, Central 3. The Maroons got a three-run homer from Monica Rondon, her fourth of the season in a home contest.

Schlarman 10, Salt Fork 2. Mariah Skaggs got the win and Casey Cromwell went 2 for 4 with an RBI for the visiting Hilltoppers against the Storm.

Heritage 10, Martinsville 2. Heather Luth hit a three-run homer and Lindsey Nickelson added a two-run blast for the host Hawks (5-5).

Fisher 8, Heyworth 6. Caitlin Arnold and Kaitlynn Cuevas each had two hits, and Chelsea Williamson had a double and two RBI for the host Bunnies against Heyworth.

Okaw Valley 13, Villa Grove 2. Shelby Greger took the loss for the host Blue Devils, who managed runs in the second and fifth innings.

Watseka 7, Iroquois West 3. The Warriors scored three in the first and held on at home.
South Piatt 14-24, Tri-County 0-1. Amy Chromchak went 3 for 4 and Teresa Norman struck out eight as the Wildcats beat the Titans in the first game of a doubleheader.
In Game 2, Chromchak went 4 for 4 and Katrina Freeman went 3 for 3.

Monticello 2, Warrensburg-Latham 2. Jenna Harshbarger allowed two hits over 12 innings and Ali Moss hit an RBI double for the host Sages (13-3).

LeRoy 2, Tremont 1. The Panthers (5-2) got six hits from six players and Stephanie Hintz pitched a complete game against Tremont.

Westville 3, Oakwood 0. Jenna Golden went 3 for 3 with an RBI and Taylor Ceader went 2 for 3 with three runs for the host Tigers (7-4, 5-0 VVC) against Oakwood (2-9), which was led by Chelsie Bartlett's 2-for-3 effort.

Blue Ridge 11, Lexington 0. Staci Gardner struck out seven on the road for the Knights (8-1).

St. Joseph-Ogden 9, Rantoul 0. Jenna Slifer threw a two-hitter, striking out six, for the Spartans (14-0).

Ridgeview 10, Dee-Mack 8. Taylor Zimmerman had four hits and four RBI, Lacey Gleeson had three hits and two RBI and Kelsey DeFries had three hits and two RBI for the visiting Mustangs (3-4, 1-1 HOIC) against the Chiefs (3-6, 0-3) in 11 innings.

In boys' track:
At Fairbury. Phil Johnson won the high jump and 1,600 meters to pace second-place Prairie Central in a five-team meet won by Herscher.

In girls' track:
At Decatur. Urbana won the 1,600 and 400 relays and scored 86 points in a meet that involved Centennial (49.5) and MacArthur (33.5).

At Fairbury. Abby Popejoy enjoyed four first-place finishes in individual events as Prairie Central won a five-team meet with 131 points.

In boys' tennis:
Normal West 7, Urbana 2. The Tigers got a singles win from Leo Giannetta and a doubles win from Giannetta and Nabeel Rizwan, but the Tigers fell to Normal West.
