Lovrant, Allen lift PBL
WATSEKA – Cameron Lovrant had five RBI and Connor Allen struck out seven as Paxton-Buckley-Loda beat Hoopeston Area 15-5 in a Class 2A regional baseball game Thursday.
Schlarman 7, Oakwood 3. Heath Goodwin's big bat helped Schlarman in a Class 1A game in Sidell.
Goodwin hit a two-run homer and Scott Showers added two doubles for the Hilltoppers. Matt Chamberlain and Vinnie Miller each had two hits.
Argenta-Oreana 9, Cerro Gordo 4. Drew Minton (two RBI) hit a double and triple, but the Broncos lost to the host Bombers in a Class 1A regional.
Blue Ridge 13, LeRoy 12. Trenton Weddle had three hits and three RBI and Nick Builta had four RBI for the visiting Knights against the Panthers in a Class 1A regional.
Iroquois West 5, CPCI 4. Kyle Pool had an RBI double and the game-winning sacrifice fly for the Raiders against the visiting Timberwolves in a Class 1A regional.
Stewardson-Strasburg 13, East Central 1. Cole Judy and Devon Biggs each had two hits, but the Panthers allowed eight unearned runs and lost to the Comets in a Class 1A regional.
In regular season action:
Mattoon 10, Centennial 0. Michael Walker and Casey White each had two hits for the Chargers.
Central 13, Urbana 0. Clint Miller hit a grand slam and Evan Ellsworth homered to lift the Maroons.
Mahomet-Seymour 16. Mount Zion 15. Alex Smith and Bob Schroeder each scored three runs for the visiting Bulldogs against the Braves.
In softball:
St. Joseph-Ogden 1, Tri-Valley 0. Hannah Bowen knocked in Andi Morgan with the winning run and the Spartans (29-2) slipped past the Vikings.
Centennial 4, Central 2. Paige Johnson had two RBI and Sonya Le had a double and scored a run for the Chargers (7-22) against the Maroons. Monica Rondon doubled for host Central.
Danville 10, Urbana 1. Morgan King went 4 for 4 with three doubles and Mackenzie Stevenson allowed no earned runs for the host Vikings (12-17, 7-6 Big 12).
Olympia 3, GCMS 0. Mara Filicsky hit a double but the visiting Spartans (30-2) beat the Falcons (18-4).
