Kyrouac, Brown lift Central to two wins
COCOA BEACH, Fla. – Doug Kyrouac had six hits, leading Champaign Central to two baseball victories Wednesday.
The Maroons received three hits apiece from Kyrouac and Luke Kriegel in their 5-2 victory against Maret, Md. Central, behind three hits from Kyrouac and two hits and three RBI from Kurtis Brown, defeated St. Agnes 11-1.
Salt Fork 13, Paris 3. Trevor Hallett had two home runs and three RBI for the host Storm, which also got a three-run home run and four RBI from Aaron Taylor. Winning pitcher Joel Learnard struck out six.
PBL 7, McNamara 4. Andy Fairchild went 3 for 4 with an RBI for host Paxton-Buckley-Loda (3-0), which also received a three-run triple from Connor Allen against Bishop McNamara.
Westville 3, East Central 2. David Toth struck out 16 in seven innings, and winning pitcher Cody Benschneider struck out the side in the eighth inning for the Tigers.
Tuscola 9, Schlarman 7. Pat Yoakum went 3 for 4 with two runs for the host Warriors, who also received two hits apiece from Matt Pflum (three RBI) and Josh Brookins.
Zane Dillon (double, home run) and Zach Miller each had two hits for the Hilltoppers.
Oakwood 10, Fisher 0. Tyler Knight went 3 for 4 for the host Comets. Winning pitcher Casey Fletcher carried a no-hitter into the fourth inning before it was broken up by the Bunnies' Taw Fredrickson.
A-P 6, Blue Ridge 3. Dalton Esteppe was 3 for 3 with an RBI for host Armstrong-Potomac, which also received two hits from Brandon Sparks.
Trenton Weddle went 2 for 3 with an RBI for the Knights.
In softball:
Centennial 6, BCC 4. Katie Blas and Paige Johnson each tripled and went 2 for 4 for the visiting Chargers against Bloomington Central Catholic in their season debut.
Tuscola 15, Central 4. Sam Kohlbecker, Audrey Mooney, Lexi Rogers and Kelsey Cleland each had two hits for the host Warriors.
Monica Rondon had two hits for Champaign Central.
SJ-O 12, Westville 2. Jenna Slifer homered for host St. Joseph-Ogden, which totaled 16 hits. Audra James and Abby Immke each recorded three hits in the victory.
Blue Ridge 24, A-P 4. Devin Houser (3 for 5) hit a grand slam and drove in seven runs for the visiting Knights, who also got a home run and five RBI from Jordan Wheeler. Casey Thomas went 4 for 4 with two RBI in the victory.
Fisher 10, Oakwood 0. Kalli Gosser hit a three-run home run in the sixth inning for the visiting Bunnies, who also got a home run from Amanda Cain.
Chelsea Williamson went 3 for 3 with two runs for Fisher (3-0).
Schlarman 7, B-H 5. Lohgan Bryant homered for the visiting Hilltoppers against Bismarck-Henning.
Elyse Lippert homered for the Blue Devils.
