Vannoy keeps M-S baseball perfect
MAROA – Josh Raymond and Andrew Lawson drove in three runs apiece as Mahomet-Seymour remained perfect with a 13-3 victory against Maroa-Forsyth in prep baseball Tuesday.
Colton Nelson, Jason Zeigler and Alex Smith had two hits apiece as M-S improved to 7-0.
Starter Drew Vannoy did not allow an earned run in 41/3 innings.
East Central 9, Georgetown-Ridge Farm 7. Tyler Sanderson went 3 for 4 and Spencer Lowe drove in four runs to power the host Panthers. Hunter Tweedy and Aaron Larson added two RBI apiece.
Quentin Varner homered for the Buffaloes.
Lake Forest 8, Danville 4. Drew Guthrie homered and drove in two for the host Vikings (2-4).
St. Thomas More 10, Iroquois West 0. Zach Johnson and Will Rudolphi (two RBI) had two hits apiece for the visiting Sabers. Tyler Brown drove in three runs.
Meridian 20, Cerro Gordo 3. Jordan Ramay and Kaleb Krigbaum had hits for the host Broncos (2-4).
Unity 6, Fisher 5. Cole Craft had two hits and scored the go-ahead run on a seventh-inning squeeze bunt for the visiting Rockets.
Matt Elkins had two hits and three RBI for the Bunnies.
Paxton-Buckley-Loda 10, Tri-Point 0. Andy Fairchild's two hits and three RBI sparked the host Panthers. Fairchild (3-0) also picked up the win on the mound.
Dylan Overstreet and Jimmy Quinn added two hits for PBL (5-0).
CPCI 13, Momence 6. Alex Rabe went 3 for 4 with three RBI as the Timberwolves (5-3) cruised at home. Kyle Popham added two hits and three RBI in CPCI's 15-hit attack.
Tuscola 28, South Piatt 7. Cody Shelmadine and Jacob Barr had three hits apiece for the host Warriors (3-5). TJ Onstott slugged a grand slam and drove in six. Dillon Hoel drove in four.
Oakwood 14, Hoopeston Area 9. Austin Buckley hit a solo homer and Cameron Lee had three hits for the host Comets. Wes Rush had three hits and Alex Moore added two for the Cornjerkers.
Urbana 15, Springfield Lanphier 0. Trey Russell, Dylan Anderson and Bryan Fink each went 3 for 3 for the visiting Tigers (6-1). Laquan Grein had three RBI.
Fisher 8, Bismarck-Henning 6. Aubrey Pettenger drove in Lindsey Williams with a two-out hit in the ninth inning for the visiting Bunnies.
Kalli Gosser, Amanda Cain and Williams had three hits apiece for Fisher (6-0).
Oakwood 22, Shiloh 8. Ashley Wahlfeldt smacked a grand slam and drove in six runs for the visiting Comets (1-5). Kayla Johnson added four hits.
PBL 7, Tri-Point 2. JJ Valentine had two hits and two RBI for the host Panthers.
Watseka 6, Clifton Central 3. Kloie McCann had two hits and Erin Cowan and Ashley Gocken each drove in a run for the host Warriors (4-5). Katie LaVoie picked up the win.
Charleston 11, Danville 4. Casey Cromwell homered and had two hits for the host Vikings (1-2).
Unity 14, Champaign Central 1. Lacy Pruitt's three hits powered the host Rockets (4-6). Rachael Billman added two hits. Monica Rondon and Allison Knox accounted for the Maroons' only hits.
Milford 9, Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley 8. Ashlen Portwood and Lexie Schuldt homered for the visiting Bearcats, who rallied with a four-run sixth inning.
Jenna Heideman struck out eight.
Kaiti Bowen homered for the Falcons.
St. Thomas More 10, Iroquois West 4. Sierra Myerscough had two hits and two RBI for the visiting Sabers. Brittany Einck also drove in a pair and Taylor Alexander and Alyssa Vodacek had two hits apiece.
Einck went the distance in the circle, striking out nine and not allowing an earned run.
Karlyn Wilken had two hits for the Raiders.
In boys' track & field:
At Crawfordsville, Ind. Daniel Wells won the 800 meters, 1,600 and 3,200 for First Baptist in a meet at North Montgomery (Ind.).
At Mahomet. Matthew Schaap won both hurdles events and brother Jonathan Schaap captured the 1,600 as Mahomet-Seymour defeated Prairie Central 116-30.
The Bulldogs' Marshall Graham was victorious in the 100 and the 200.
At Watseka. Fisher won the six-team Watseka Invitational as Dwight Rutledge won the discus and the shot put.
Fisher also got wins from Dion Unzicker (long jump), Chase Kelley (high jump), Trevor Unzicker (110 high hurdles, 400) and two relays.
Tyler Dunahee won the 100 in 11.26 seconds for Paxton-Buckley-Loda.
Watseka's John Kidwell won the 200 and teammate Caleb Parsons took the 300 hurdles.
In girls' track & field:
At Arcola. East Central's Mariah Coleman was a double winner, taking the high jump and the long jump. Arthur-Lovington won the six-team meet with 109 points, followed by Villa Grove with 68.
At Watseka. Raychelle Poplawski was victorious in the 300 hurdles and Lauren Shaner won the 800 to lead the Warriors to the title in their invitational.
Kasey Sanders led third-place PBL with victories in the shot put and the discus.
Rayanne Wright won the 400, the 100 hurdles and the high jump for runner-up Clifton Central-Iroquois West.
