Nevin, Langley key M-S soccer

URBANA – Terrisa Nevin and Elizabeth Langley scored first-half goals to lead Mahomet-Seymour past Urbana Uni High 2-0 on Tuesday in girls' prep soccer.

Nevin scored on an assist by Amanda Wallace, and Langley's goal came on an assist by Kelsie Donley.

Champaign Central 1, Normal West 0. Goalkeeper Jordan Slade made 10 saves to lead the visiting Maroons' shutout. Anna Rodgers scored from Mia Gilliam in the second half.

Mount Zion 6, St. Thomas More 2. Jade Brinkoetter scored twice in the first half for the visiting Sabers.

In softball:

Normal U-High 5, Rantoul 3. Anna Louise Lutes and Bridget Schlueter had two hits apiece for the host Eagles (7-11).

St. Teresa 11, Monticello 5. Kaitlyn Barrett and Ashley Dawson had two hits apiece for the host Sages.

Tremont 16, Ridgeview 5. Taylor Zimmer had two RBI for the host Mustangs (1-15).

St. Joseph-Ogden 13, Clifton Central 3. Elizabeth Everingham homered and Hannah Bowen drove in six runs for the host Spartans (18-3).

Danville 12, Central 1. Casey Cromwell and Michaleen Forman (three hits) homered for the host Vikings. Monica Rondon and Claire Feely had three hits for the Maroons.

Heritage 10, Bismarck-Henning 7. Alex Danner went 3 for 3 with two RBI for the visiting Hawks (11-2). Frankie Shoaf led the Blue Devils (7-9) with three hits and three RBI.

Blue Ridge 13, Heyworth 8. Melinda Wilson homered twice and Hannah Mattingly added another for the host Knights (22-5).

Prairie Central 11, Bloomington Central Catholic 4. Courtney Somers had three hits and drove in two runs for the host Hawks. Kathryn Bahler added two hits and two RBI. Brittiany Tjarks had two hits.

Tri-Point 11, Iroquois West 6. Courtney Miller had two hits and three RBI for the visiting Raiders.

In baseball:

Centennial 6, Danville 5. Trey Ballard homered for the host Chargers. Chuckie Robinson slugged a home run for the Vikings.

CPCI 7, Watseka 5. Brandon Hasselbring collected two hits to spark the visiting Timberwolves. Tanner Harris led the Warriors with three hits.

LeRoy 3, Fieldcrest 0. Scott Van Winkle scattered seven hits and four walks for the host Panthers (7-9). Trent Moberly led the offense with two hits.

Central 11, Mattoon 5. Harrison Freeland (three hits, five RBI) homered to lead the host Maroons (13-11). Winning pitcher Braden Anderson added two hits.

Urbana 24, Clinton 14. Host Urbana's Trey Russell collected five hits and seven RBI in the slugfest. Cody Randolph had five hits including a homer.

Iroquois West 9, Tri-Point 1. Winning pitcher Kyle Pool had a three-run homer and Eric Dieken added three hits in the visiting Raiders' 11-hit attack.

Clifton Central 16, St. Joseph-Ogden 4. Jared Orcutt knocked in two runs for the host Spartans.

Mahomet-Seymour 5, Olympia 3. Andrew Lawson pitched a complete game and Josh Raymond clubbed a three-run homer for the host Bulldogs, who improved to 7-0 in Corn Belt Conference play. Josh Menacher also homered for M-S.

Normal U-High 11, Rantoul 1. The visiting Eagles (5-15) were limited to four hits.

Heyworth 6, Blue Ridge 5. Cody Warren struck out 10 for the host Knights (9-16).

In girls' track & field:

At Champaign. Rachel Ballard won the 200-meter dash and the long jump to help St. Joseph-Ogden defeat Mahomet-Seymour, Centennial, Champaign Central and Rantoul.

In boys' track & field:

At Rantoul. Danville defeated Rantoul and Charleston behind shot put and discus victories from Cameron Ford.
