Wednesday's prep highlights: Stokowski tosses gem

In baseball

Monticello 13, Arcola 0. Winning pitcher NICK STOKOWSKI tossed a five-inning no-hitter, striking out 13 for the visiting Sages.

Champaign Central 6, Kankakee 5. The host Maroons scored five runs early and held on for the victory when center fielder Lucas Wilson threw out the potential game-tying run to end the game.

Central got two hits from Caleb Plattner.

M-S 11, Ridgeview 1. Cody Hennigh (1-0) earned the victory for host Mahomet-Seymour.

Tyler Francisco was 4 for 4 with four runs and an RBI for the Bulldogs, who got two home runs from Dalton Kerans. Cully Day had three RBI, and Brad Herrmann was 2 for 4 with two RBI.

Tuscola 22, A-L 2. T.J. Onstott (home run) went 3 for 3 with four RBI for the visiting Warriors (2-0), who got a home run and five RBI from Luke Heinz and three hits and two RBI from Dillon Hoel.

Tuscola's Jacob Barr went 3 for 4 with two RBI, and teammates Jimmy Knight and Philip Meyer each contributed two hits.

Arthur-Lovington got hits from Tyler Schuring and Avery Schrock in the five-inning game.

Paris 7, East Central 3. Brandon Umbarger, Colin Daly and Chance Lemmon allowed eight hits for the visiting Panthers.

Oakwood 12, Urbana 5. Kyle Ross had two hits and two RBI for the host Tigers (0-2), who received three runs from Dustin Lard.

Zack Girton (1-0) earned the victory for the Comets.

In soccer

Champaign Central 4, Uni 1. Freshmen Emica Quigley and Maddy Chalifoux each scored for the host Maroons.

Sarah Vaughen scored for the Illineks.

In track & field

At Normal. Champaign Central's Samone Thompson finished second in the long jump, going 16 feet, 4 1/2 inches at the Normal West Invitational. Kristin Hammel was third in the 55 hurdles, clocking 9.44 seconds.

The Maroons' 800 relay team earned second, finishing in 1 minute, 51.52 seconds.
