Friday's highlights: Stokowski shines for Sages

In baseball

Monticello 7, Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley 4. Winning pitcher NICK STOKOWSKI struck out 11 and scattered six hits in 5 2/3 innings. JACOB WILLIAMS didn't allow a hit in earning the save.

East Central 20, Villa Grove 2. CHANCE LEMMON collected three hits, including a home run, and drove in four runs for the visiting Panthers. JOHN ESSIG also had three hits.

Fisher 7, Paxton-Buckley-Loda 4. The host Bunnies got three RBI from KYLE WILLIAMS (three hits) and TAW FREDRICKSON (two hits). PBL's DREW SCHRODT tripled twice, drove in two runs and scored two times. TANNER HARRIS had three hits in the loss.

Westville 13, Milford 3. The visiting Tigers scored 10 times in the fifth inning to break open the game. TRENT CALLISON (three RBI) and JORDAN ROMO (two RBI) each had two hits to pace the offense. Winning pitcher KYLE BRAZAS struck out five, and he collected two hits and scored two runs. The Bearcats got two hits and two RBI from ALEX PORTWOOD.

Teutopolis 4, St. Joseph-Ogden 3. The visiting Spartans erased a 3-0 deficit with a three-run seventh inning, highlighted by a two-run double by LOGAN CARR, but the Shoes won it with a run in the bottom half.

Oakwood 7, Schlarman 6. The host Comets scored four times in the bottom of the seventh, highlighted by ZACK GIRTON's (three hits) walkoff two-run single to erase a 6-2 deficit. RONNIE SODERSTROM had two hits and two RBI for Schlarman.

Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Chrisman 8, Salt Fork 2. Winning pitcher KORIE VIRE went the distance and collected two hits with a double and two RBI to power the host Buffaloes. RYAN BERRY (two hits) belted a solo home run. ROSS LEARNARD paced the Storm, going 3 for 4 with a double.

In softball

Heritage 4, Villa Grove 0. The visiting Hawks got two hits apiece from BRITTANY LATHAM, DANI STIGERS (RBI) and MIRANDA PRUITT to back winning pitcher HILARY SMITH, who struck out 14 in a two- hit shutout. LIZZY SMITH struck out 12 for the Blue Devils in a losing effort.

Watseka 8, St. Anne 4. TAYLOR BAUER tripled and drove in three runs, and winning pitcher HAYLEY GRAY went the distance without yielding an earned run.

Armstrong-Potomac 15, Hoopeston Area 3. SHAYLA BOEN (three hits, three RBI) and KIRSTEN NEWNUM (two hits, four RBI) powered the visiting Trojans, who scored nine times in the first inning.

Schlarman 9, Oakwood 1. LEA HALL homered twice to lift the visiting Hilltoppers.

Westville 16, Milford 6. The host Tigers got three hits apiece from CARSON RICHARDSON (two RBI) and JODEE OTTINO (two runs, two RBI). ABBY BARTH drove in three runs. Milford's ASHLEN PORTWOOD hit a solo home run in the first inning.

Boiling Springs (S.C.) 7, Clinton 1. HALEY GINGER went 3 for 3 and MORGAN HICKMAN had a hit and an RBI for the Maroons on their Tennessee trip.

Dickson County (Tenn.) 2, Clinton 1. HALEY TOOHILL had three hits and EMILY KOGER added two for the Maroons.

Lovington-Arthur 19, Shiloh 10. BROOKE TABB scored five runs to lead the visiting Lancers. Shiloh's STEPHANIE HUNT (two doubles) and DEB PRYLE each went 4 for 5. Teammate JESSICA HUNT had three hits including a homer.

In girls' soccer

Judah Christian 1, Meridian 1. MADDIE JOHNSON scored on an assist from MALLORY NAMOFF and ERIN HUGGETT made two saves for the host Tribe.
