Athletes of the Week: Krout and Smith

Stephen Krout, Bismarck-Henning, Baseball, Senior

Recently: Three-sport standout — and big-time Cardinals fan — went 15 for 24 and drove in 12 runs in a six-game, seven-day stretch that ended Friday.

In his own words: "I'm seeing the ball really well. You have cold stretches and hot stretches, and I'm in the middle of a hot stretch."

I'm driving ... a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

I'm always texting ... Kelsea, my girlfriend.

Are the Cardinals going to repeat? Definitely.

Are you rooting for Albert Pujols? No. He left us. He's gone.

I'm dying to see ... "American Reunion."

I need concert tickets to ... Drake.

My first job ... was working on one of my dad's friend's farm, baling hay.

In five years ... hopefully I'll be finishing up college with a pharmacy degree.

My longest home run ... Probably 340. I don't hit a lot of home runs — I'm more of a line-drive hitter.

The best thing about B-H is ... Because of the size, just knowing everybody. And the teachers are great.

Recently: Went 5-0 (including a no-hitter) in a seven-day stretch ending Friday. For the five games overall, she allowed one earned run, 11 hits and struck out 51, including at least nine in all five games. At the plate, she was 7 for 16.

In her own words: "We came off a tourney at Catlin where we beat a team (Salt Fork) we had lost to earlier. We won a conference game Wednesday 1-0 against Arthur-Lovington, which was our most exciting win. We want to win conference for the fourth year in a row."

I'm driving ... a Nissan Ultima Coupe.

My first job ... Babysitting

In five years ... Living in a big city as an accountant

If I pitched against UI's Meredith Hackett, I would ... throw some changeups and keep it low.
