Centennial baseball earns Big 12 sweep

CHAMPAIGN — Zach Parks had five hits in two games as Centennial made quick work of Decatur Eisenhower in a Big 12 Conference sweep Saturday.

The Chargers (23-10, 6-5 Big 12) won the opener 14-4 behind Cully Wilson's three hits and three RBI. Gerald Bales added two hits and two RBI.

In a five-inning Game 2 — won by Centennial 14-1 — Brice Deaville was 4 for 4 with three RBI, Jimmy Nelligan had three hits and Parks three RBI to support the three-hit pitching of Kyle Ritten.

Normal West 3-4, Central 0-3. Host Normal West scored twice in the seventh of Game 2 to complete the sweep. Luke Beesley and Nick Brunson had RBI hits to give Central a 3-0 advantage.

In Game 1, Kurtis Brown had a double for Central (12-20, 3-8 Big 12).

Normal Community 10-7, Danville 5-2. Chase Thurston was 7 for 8 on the day for the Vikings (17-12, 8-4), driving in three runs in Game 1.

Reece Imler was 2 for 3 with an RBI in Game 2.

MacArthur 12-14, Urbana 8-2. Kyle Ross had three hits and two RBI in the opener for the Tigers, who got three hits from Dustin Lard. Tanner Russell added two hits and three stolen bases.

In Game 2, Chris Lenear doubled for Urbana.
