Wednesday's prep highlights: Ridgeview softball advances

In Class 1A regionals

Ridgeview 19, Fisher 8. Marissa Freidmansky went 3 for 5 (double) with five RBI to power the third-seeded Mustangs, who got two hits, two runs and two RBI from Danielle Powell. Taylor Hastings added three hits (two doubles) and an RBI in the semifinal victory at Gibson City.

The second-seeded Bunnies were led by Kalli Gosser, who went 4 for 4 with four runs. Teammate Leah Williams was 3 for 3 with three RBI.

In Class 2A regionals

PBL 12, Watseka 5. JJ Valentine had three hits and four runs for second-seeded Paxton-Buckley-Loda at Hoopeston. Brooke Allen and Lacey Forbes each had two hits and two RBI in the victory. The third-seeded Warriors received two hits and an RBI from Colleen Suchy.

Tri-Valley 5, Clinton 1. Emily Kroeger (2 for 3) homered for the third-seeded Maroons at Clinton.

In baseball

In Class 1A regionals

Tuscola 18, Villa Grove 0. Nolan Walsh went 3 for 3 with three RBI for the top-seeded Warriors, who got three hits and two RBI from winning pitcher Josh Brookins.

Jimmy Knight and Dillon Hoel each contributed two hits and two RBI for host Tuscola, which will play either Cerro Gordo or South Piatt at 11 a.m. Saturday for the regional championship.

Salt Fork 1, East Central 0. Garrett McFadden scored the winning run on Cole Taylor's walkoff single at Sidell.

Winning pitcher Adam DePratt struck out 11 in the semifinal for the top-seeded Storm.
