Four-run seventh rallies Tuscola
DANVILLE — Jacob Barr's two-run triple keyed a four-run seventh-inning rally as Tuscola beat LeRoy 8-5 in Class 1A sectional action Wednesday. Barr entered the game in the sixth inning to relieve starter Dillon Hoel (10 strikeouts) and wound up the winning pitcher.
"This group of seniors is accustomed to playing under pressure," Tuscola coach Duff Hoel said. "They never said die."
Tommy Watson had three hits and Jimmy Knight had two for Tuscola (21-13), which plays Schlarman in Saturday's title game.
James Mettrick and Nolan Sammer each had two hits for LeRoy.
Tyler Brennan had seven strikeouts in a complete-game effort and Lucas Spezia had two hits and two RBI as Schlarman (25-12) held off Dwight 8-5.
Brock Drews (RBI), Alec Neal, Austin Calhoun and Daniel Wise each had two hits for the Hilltoppers (25-12).
"I don't think we played our best defensive game, but offensively we were pretty good today," Schlarman coach Jason Woodworth said.
Class 3A regional:
Danville 10, Urbana 0. Michael Vascura pitched a complete game and helped his cause with two RBI for the top-seeded Vikings (19-14) in Champaign. Reece Imler had two hits and three RBI for the Vikings, who got two hits apiece from Nik Shepherd and Austin West.
Kyle Ross and Salman Khan each had two hits for Urbana (5-30).
