Thursday's prep highlights: Marquez powers Cissna Park

CISSNA PARK — Josh Marquez went 3 for 3 with four RBI, leading Cissna Park to a 10-6 victory and a split in its baseball doubleheader against Momence on Thursday.

The Timberwolves lost the first game 13-11.

In the second game, Alex Rabe hit a two-run home run and Jacob Marquez went 3 for 4 with two RBI.

Cole Hasselbring hit a three-run homer in the opener, and Beau Anderson (two RBI) and Rabe each had two hits.

Fairley, Crews shine in defeat. Cole Fairley went 1 for 3 with two RBI, but Prairie Central lost 4-2 to host Kankakee Bishop McNamara.

Devin Crews doubled for the Hawks.

In track & field:

Smith, Kimbro sparkle. Broc Smith won the 100, 200 and 400 meters in host Tuscola’s boys’ track and field victory in a five-team meet. Jenny Kimbro was victorious in the 100 hurdles, the 300 hurdles and the long jump, leading Salt Fork to first place in the girls’ meet.

In tennis:

Chargers top Vikings. Sunny Singh, Andrew Scaggs and Peter Kim swept their singles matches, leading Centennial to an 8-1 victory against Danville in a Big 12 Conference tennis match.
