Teams of the Week: M-S baseball in spotlight

The Bulldogs (2-0) followed a 4-1 win against Rantoul with an 11-1 win against Danville. Jack Rettig and Chris Redman picked up the pitching victories. Tom Kenney homered against the Eagles.

The Bearcats (1-0) won their home opener behind a four-hit performance from Erin McNally. Winning pitcher Mindy Garrelts (seven strikeouts, four earned runs) had two hits in a 19-10 win against Iroquois West.

The Rockets (2-0) opened with a 22-1 triumph against Arcola behind a one-hitter from McKenzie Krutsinger and followed with a 12-1 win against Paris. Harley Duncan and Krutsinger combined on a four-hitter.

The Vikings placed third in the 28-school Gene Armer meet. Johnny Leverenz broke the school record in the 3,200 meters (9 minutes, 16.77 seconds). He also won the 1,600. Chris Collier and Trent Sherfield were top-three placers.
