Saturday's prep highlights: Central's Altmyer tosses no-hitter
■ Central 7-6, Pontiac 0-1. Alec Altmyer struck out 11 in a complete-game no-hitter in Game 1. Joe Aeilts and Jake Snider each had two hits and an RBI. In the second game, Tanner Gordon struck out eight in six innings to record his first win. Connor Mapes had three hits and two RBI.
■ A-O 9-12, Fisher 2-2. Argenta-Oreana scored five runs to break a seventh-inning tie in Game 1. Brad Pettenger had an RBI for the Bunnies. In Game 2, Kyle Williams had two hits and an RBI for Fisher.
■ Monticello 11, Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond 1. Matt Crook pitched four hitless innings and struck out six. Crook was 1 for 2. Nathan Mumm was 1 for 2. Ryne Bundy was 2 for 3 with a double.
■ M-S 15-27, Urbana 3-1. Kevin Mumm won his first game of the season in Game 1. Jack Rettig had three hits and scored three runs for the Bulldogs. In Game 2, the Bulldogs had 20 hits. Cully Day was 5 for 6 and scored five runs. Nauman Khan and Marcus Williams each had a hit for Urbana.
■ Roanoke-Benson 8, LeRoy 3. Ricky Vermaat had two hits and an RBI for the Panthers.
■ Milford 10-15, Tri-Point 6-0. Shayne McNally went 2 for 3 for the host Bearcats in Game 1. Milford scored seven runs in the fifth inning. In Game 2, Ryley Ward struck out 12 and tossed a one-hit shutout in five innings to carry the Bearcats. Milford scored 10 runs in the first inning.
■ Tremont 7-3, Prairie Central 3-3. Carter Frambes had two hits for the Hawks in Game 1. Prairie Central scored two runs in the fourth to pull even with Tremont in the Game 2 tie. Tyler Wenger had two hits for the Hawks.
■ Watseka 13, Bismarck-Henning 7. The Warriors scored 13 unanswered runs after giving up seven runs in the first for the comeback road victory. Cole Davenport had two hits and an RBI. Will Lyznicki stole three bases and scored three runs. Austin Hasselbring had one hit and scored two runs. Dalton Strawser was 2 for 4 with an RBI for B-H. Nathan Moreman had two RBI.
■ Unity 4, Westville 1. Mitchell Snodgrass and Jacob Styan scored two runs apiece for the Rockets. Taylor White had two RBI. C.J. Short and Connor Grace each had an RBI. Jeffery Thompson scored one run for Westville. Tanner Cox pitched a complete game.
■ Blue Ridge 6-17, Cerro Gordo/Bement 2-2. Host Blue Ridge erased an early deficit, scoring six runs in the last three innings in Game 1. Taylor Builta, Jessica Gilbert and Cheye Beres had two hits apiece. Stephanie Shook was 3 for 3 for CG/B. In Game 2, Blue Ridge scored 17 runs in the first two innings. Alana Strum had two hits and four RBI. Builta had two RBI and scored three runs. Jamison Brandt was 2 for 2 with two RBI. Beres scored two runs.
■ A-L/A-H 9, Decatur LSA 3. Katie Wildman walked five and struck out six in her first win of the season. Makala Miller was 3 for 4 with two doubles.
■ Milford 14-6, Tri-Point 1-0. Mindy Garrelts allowed two hits and one run in five innings for the Bearcats in Game 1. Erin McNally had four hits and two RBI. Cornisha Allen, Alissa Totheroh and Garrelts had two hits apiece. In Game 2, Sierra Fanning and Taylor Simpson combined for the two-hit shutout. Madisyn Rose had a hit and an RBI. Simpson had an RBI and scored a run.
■ Westville 2, Centennial 1. Courtney Gabehart scored the winning run in the fourth inning for Westville. Danielle Staske struck out eight for the Chargers.
In track & field
■ At Danville. Bismarck-Henning’s Blake Reifsteck won the boys’ 200- meter dash and long jump at the County Kick Off Classic. Braedon Lappin-Pratt finished first in the shot put for B-H. Tyson Reed finished first in the 55-meter dash and the 50-meter hurdles for Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Chrisman. Wyatt Avenatti won the 800, and Lane Avenatti placed first in the 1,600. For the girls, Shannon Brown won the 50- and 55-meter hurdles for Danville. The Vikings won all three meter relay events. B-H’s Mary Bass finished first in the 55 and 200.
■ At Bloomington. Centennial’s 800-meter relay (Dominique Lewis, Avona Greene, LaToyah Mason and Bertha Frazier) finished first at the Class 2A Top Times Meet. Mahomet-Seymour was the runner-up in the 3,200-meter relay. Central’s Ranija Turner placed eighth in the shot put with a throw of 36 feet, 8 inches. Hannah Wright finished ninth in the 3,200 for the Maroons. On the boys’ side, Watseka’s Austin Kidwell finished fourth in the 400. Centennial’s Allen Terry placed fifth in the 60-meter hurdles.
■ Mattoon 5, Monticello 0. Hayley Rollin had six saves for the Sages.
■ At Metamora. Centennial got third place at the Metamora Invite. Sunny Singh had singles wins against Dunlap, Barrington and Peoria Notre Dame. Will Small had a big singles win in the third-place match against Peoria Notre Dame.
