Wednesday's prep highlights: PBL remains unbeaten

In baseball

■ PBL 9, Tri-Valley 4. Marty Mennenga went 2 for 3 with two runs and an RBI for host Paxton-Buckley-Loda (6-0), which received two hits, two runs and an RBI from Cody Bauman. Jonah Wilson went 2 for 3 with an RBI in the victory. Winning pitcher Johnny Walder (2-0), who struck out three, allowed three hits in five innings.

■ Ridgeview 19, Cissna Park 12. The visiting Mustangs won a five-inning game that was shortened by darkness.
Ridgeview took a 24-12 lead into the bottom of the sixth inning, when the Timberwolves mounted a comeback. Cissna Park narrowed its deficit to 24-20, but the game was called for safety reasons with one out and the bases loaded. The score reverted to the fifth inning, when the Mustangs led 19-12.
Josh Marquez was 3 for 3 and Jacob Marquez went 3 for 5 for the Timberwolves.

In softball
■ Monticello 21, PBL 0. Chrissy Gadbury went 3 for 3, including a double and a home run, drove in four runs and scored five for the visiting Sages, who got three hits, including a home run, and three RBI from Sophie Catlin. Monticello, which collected 21 hits, received two hits, four runs and an RBI from Sam Valentine.
Gadbury (5-1) and Megan Taylor combined on the five-inning no-hitter.
