Monday's prep highlights: Walder deals gem for PBL
■ Cissna Park 13, Armstrong-Potomac 6. The Timberwolves scored in every inning. Wyatt Froehling was 2 for 3. Ben Jennings had two hits and two RBI. Jason Sollars had two hits and two RBI for A-P.
■ Bismarck-Henning 3, Schlarman 1. Mo Abbed allowed two hits and struck out 12 for B-H. Michael Feeney had two hits for the Blue Devils.
■ Paxton-Buckley-Loda 1, Rantoul 0. Johnny Walder pitched a one-hit shutout for PBL. Marty Mennega had two hits and one RBI. Drew Schrodt had one hit and one RBI. Jay Eshleman was 1 for 2. Kyle Flessner struck out seven for the Eagles.
■ Cerro Gordo/Bement 8, Villa Grove/Heritage 3. Cole Blickensderfer struck out 11 for CG/B. Blickensderfer had one hit and two runs. Mason Neisslie had two hits, both home runs and four RBI. Connor Gross hit a home run, while Josh Hayes had two hits and two runs. Dalton James was 3 for 3 for VG/H. Terrion Price had two hits, including a home run and three RBI.
■ Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley 8, Blue Ridge 6. Jake Brewer was 4 for 4 for the Falcons. Brady Fleming had two hits and two RBI. Tommy Cook had two hits and two RBI. Rhett Brucker was 2 for 3 with one RBI. Cory Jayne was 2 for 3 for the Knights, while teammate Clint O’Neal had two hits and one double and teammate Issac Trotter had two hits and one double.
■ Tuscola 5, Unity 4. The Warriors’ five-run fourth inning was the difference. Devin Rose struck out seven. Tommy Watson had one hit and two RBI. Zach Spencer hit a grand slam to account for all of Unity’s offense, while Taylor White added two hits for the Rockets.
■ Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Chrisman 3, Westville 2. Dylan Cosat had two hits and one RBI for the Buffaloes. Cory Webster had one RBI. Aaron Marx had two hits and one run for the Tigers.
■ Monticello 17, Clinton 1. The Sages scored 17 runs in the first three innings. Nick Stokowski had three hits, including one home run and seven RBI. Daniel Peterson was 3 for 3. David Vanderkloot had two hits and three RBI. Eli Logue had a hit and drove in Clinton’s lone run.
■ Armstrong-Potomac 13, Shiloh 3. Morgan Zindars allowed two hits for A-P. Makenzie Vinson had two hits and two RBI. Megan Cain had two hits and two RBI. Desiree Brown had one hit for Shiloh.
■ Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley 9, Blue Ridge 1. All nine Falcons’ starters recorded a hit. Breanna Walker allowed one hit and struck out seven, while. Samantha Fiore was 2 for 3.
■ Villa Grove/Heritage 9, Cerro Gordo/Bement 2. Taylor Pruitt was 3 for 4 with one double for VG/H. Haley Wright was 2 for 4 with two doubles and two RBI for CG/B.
■ Mattoon 5, St. Joseph-Ogden 2. The visiting Spartans trailed 2-0 early before tying the game in the third inning, but couldn’t hold onto the lead in the loss.
■ Salt Fork 13, Milford 2. The Storm scored 10 runs in the last three innings. Kalyn Learnard had two hits and three RBI. Lea Hall had two hits, including oe home run. Lexie Smith was 2 for 3 with one home run and two RBI. Kylee Summers had two hits, two runs and one RBI. Emilie McFadden, Camaryn Todd and Carly Chandler had two hits apiece. Erin McNally was 2 for 3 to lead the Bearcats, while teammate Mindy Garrelts had two hits and one RBI.
■ Olympia 10, Mahomet-Seymour 2. Jessica Hammack had two hits and one RBI for the Bulldogs. Emma Vallee had one hit and one RBI. Alyssa Spoerer, Madeline Odle and London Acree had one hit apiece.
■ Westville 9, Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Chrisman 8. Victoria Howe scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning for the Tigers. Morgan Gallion and Krista Smith each hit one home run for the Tigers, while Macey Alexander cracked a home run for G-RF/C.
In track and field
■ At Gibson City. Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley defeated Prairie Central 83-59 in a boys’ dual meet. Clay Gaesser won the 3,200-meter run (10 minutes, 51.21 seconds) and the triple jump (34 feet, 7.5 inches) for the Falcons. Zach Johnson won the 110-meter hurdles (15.66) and the long jump (19-2.5). Prairie Central’s Luke Sieving won the 100-meter dash (11.4) and 200-meter dash (23.2).
In the girls’ meet, Prairie Central finished first (75 points). GCMS(57) was second followed by Bismarck-Henning(40). Linnea Johnson won the 100-meter hurdles (17.3) and 300-meter hurdles (53.1) for Prairie Central. Hannah Kollross had first place finishes in the 400-meter run (1:07.1) and 800-meter run (2:39.1) for the Falcons. B-H’s Mary Bass won the 100-meter dash (12.7) and 200-meter dash (27.1).
In girls’ soccer
■ Bloomington 2, Urbana 1. Rebecca Hanks scored a second half goal for the Tigers and Ellie England had the assist.
In boys’ tennis
■ At Urbana. St. Thomas More defeated Decatur Lutheran 8-1. The Sabers swept the singles matches, led by Travis Tressler at No. 1 singles (6-2, 6-1). Jesse Dankle won his No. 3 singles match (6-1, 6-1) before teaming up with John Boyer for a win at No. 2 singles.
