Ex-SJ-O AD Doehring honored

ST. JOSEPH — Former St. Joseph-Ogden athletic director Dale Doehring will be enshrined posthumously Saturday night in the Illinois Athletic Directors Association Hall of Fame. The ceremony will take place in Peoria.

Doehring, who died in April 2012, was SJ-O’s athletic director from 1979 until retiring in 2004.

During his tenure, the Spartans won 61 regional titles, 36 sectionals, one super-sectional and six state championships. He was chosen as the Class 1A state AD of the Year in 1996.

Also entering the IADA Hall of Fame on Saturday night is Art Rohlman, whose 24-year career as an athletic director included 20 years at DeKalb and four at Elgin.
