Friday's prep highlights: Westville, STM post shutouts

In baseball
■ Westville 7, Hoopeston Area 0. Tyler Dicken struck out seven and allowed three hits in a complete-game shutout for the host Tigers. Mark Strebin had three hits and three runs. Tristan Flynn had two hits and one RBI. Austin Milholland drove in three runs, and Kyle Brazas scored two runs.

■ St. Thomas More 20, Schlarman 0. The host Sabers scored 20 runs in the first three innings, including 11 in the third. Storm Joop had three hits, including two home runs. Joop scored three runs and drove in seven. Cam Deedrich had three hits, four runs and two RBI. Harrison York had three hits, three runs and two RBI. Sean Sullivan had two hits and two RBI. Austin Tabeling had two hits and three RBI. Braxton Parisi allowed three hits and struck out four.

■ St. Joseph-Ogden 12, Warrensburg-Latham 1. Sophomore Dalton Parker (3-0) struck out seven and teamed up with Devin Immke on a three-hitter as the Spartans improved to 23-1. Cole Berry had two triples and knocked in four runs. Brock Immke was 2 for 3 with a triple and RBI.

■ Salt Fork 10, Armstrong-Potomac 0. Cole Taylor pitched a three-hitter as the Storm blanked the Trojans.

■ Rantoul 12, Bloomington Central Catholic 7. Kolton Vermillion hit a home run and Thomas Wolken picked up the pitching win as the Eagles overpowered the Saints.

■ Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley 5, El Paso/Gridley 0. Axel Doran allowed three hits and struck out nine in a complete-game shutout for the host Falcons. Doran had two hits and one RBI. David Bean was 2 for 3.

■ Monticello 13, Tri-Valley 3. The Sages scored nine runs in the second inning. Matt Crook had two hits and three RBI. Daniel Peterson was 2 for 2. David Vanderkloot had two hits and two RBI. Jacob Burton had two hits and two runs. Ryne Bundy had two hits and two runs. Nathan Mumm had two hits.

■ Mahomet-Seymour 9, Prairie Central 2. Nick McHale had two hits and one RBI for the Bulldogs. Another team standout was Kevin Mumm, who had one hit and three RBI.
■ LeRoy 9, Fieldcrest 4. LeRoy’s Bryce Dooley had three hits and two stolen bases.

■ Tuscola 13, Tri-County 3. Nick Bates was 3 for 3 with five RBI for the Warriors. Austin Martin had two hits, including a home run, and four RBI. Clint Foster had two hits, including a home run, for the Titans. Brandon Getche was 2 for 3.

■ Iroquois West 5, Gardner-South Wilmington 1. Trenton Miller and Clark Fink each scored two runs for IW.

In softball
■ Watseka 23, Trinity 1. The host Warriors scored 15 runs in the first two innings. Samantha Hodolitz homered and had two RBI. Devin Curry had three hits and two RBI. Hayley Gray was 2 for 2 with three RBI.

■ Hoopeston Area 7, Westville 4. Rylee Martin had three hits, two RBI, two runs and two stolen bases for the Cornjerkers. Martin struck out nine. Carissa Vaughn was 3 for 3 with two runs. Ji’Cee Lacey was 4 for 4 with two RBI. Krista Smith had two hits and two RBI.

■ Momence 13, Paxton-Buckley-Loda 3. Tawny Liggett was 2 for 2 for PBL. Kelsey Vaughn had two RBI.

■ St. Thomas More 5, Urbana 4. The Sabers’ three-run sixth inning was the difference. Josie Powell had two hits, including a home run, and three RBI. Lauren Croft had two hits. Urbana’s Taylor Lovett had two hits.

In boys’ tennis

■ At Uni High. Nathan Beauchamp led University High to a 7-5 victory against Alton. Beauchamp got a victory at No. 2 singles (10-1). The No. 1 doubles team of Beauchamp and Max Li won in straight sets (6-2, 7-5). Randall Hornbaker and Chas Newman got the second doubles win at the No. 3 position (4-6, 6-1, 10-4).

■ At Centennial. The Chargers defeated O’Fallon 7-2 behind wins by Sunny Singh and Max Zheng. Singh won the No. 1 singles match for the Chargers (6-1, 6-0). Zheng followed with a singles win (6-1, 6-3). Singh and Zheng teamed up for Centennial’s only doubles win (6-1, 6-2). All six of the singles wins were in straight sets.
