Tuesday's prep highlights: Getche, Foster lead Tri-County

In baseball

■ Tri-County 9, Arcola 3. Brandon Getche recorded two hits and Campbell Foster drove in three runs to lead the host Titans in a Class 1A regional. Justin Kuhns had two of the Purple Riders’ three hits.

■ Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley 14, Hoopeston Area 7. Brady Fleming (two runs) and Jake Brewer (three runs, three RBI) had three hits apiece to power the host Falcons in Class 1A. Axel Doren added a two-run homer.  

■ Tri-Valley 7, Clinton 2. Jacob Overton doubled and Michael Perkins drove in a run for the visiting Maroons in the Class 1A regional loss.

■ Blue Ridge 1, Judah Christian 0. Dylan Trent tossed a complete-game, three-hit shutout with seven strikeouts, outdueling the Tribe’s Dylan Hamilton as the host Knights moved on in Class 1A. Clint O’Neal drove in the only run.

■ Villa Grove/Heritage 2, Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Chrisman 0. Royal Charles threw a complete-game, three-hit shutout with three strikeouts to lead the host Hawks in a Class 1A regional. Ryan Fitzgerald had a hit and scored a run.

■ Ridgeview 13, Woodland-Flanagan 1. Corey Volz and Brock McDaniels helped the host Mustangs advance in Class 1A with two hits and two RBI each. Grant Townsend and Nick Purcell each had two hits.

■ Oakwood 8, Bismarck-Henning 0. Taylor Turner tossed the one-hit shutout and struck out 13 to lead the host Comets in Class 2A. Skyler Slade and Austin McCarty (three RBI) each homered in the win.

Nontournament
■ Centennial 7, Herscher 2. Winning pitcher Anthony Martin pitched five scoreless innings to lead the visiting Chargers. Lucas Martin, Austin Johnson and Matt Davis (RBI) all had a pair of hits for Centennial.

■ Milford 4, Cissna Park 3. Winning pitcher Jordan Gullquist struck out six in three innings of scoreless relief for the visiting Bearcats. Gullquist and Kyle McNally each had a hit for Milford. Cissna Park’s Wyatt Froehling went 4 for 4 with three doubles.

■ Salt Fork 10, Paxton-Buckley-Loda 3. Cole Taylor allowed one hit and struck out eight in five innings, and he also drilled a grand slam in the sixth to break it open for the visiting Storm. Colton Baird added three hits and Lane Weston had two hits, two runs and two RBI. Cody Bauman drove in a run for the Panthers.

■ Charleston 14, Unity 13. Mitchell Snodgrass went 4 for 5 with a pair of RBI, while Taylor White added two hits and drove in six for the host Rockets.

■ Watseka 12, Iroquois West 6. Justin Moyer (three hits, two RBI) and Cody Scott (three RBI) powered the visiting Warriors. T.J. Foulks went 3 for 3 and drove in three runs for the Raiders.

■ Mahomet-Seymour 7, Bloomington Central Catholic 5. Every M-S starter had at least one hit, led by Grant Gula (two RBI, run) and Andy Livingston (RBI, run) who had two hits apiece, to pace the Bulldogs (13-1 Corn Belt).

■ LeRoy 5, Peoria Heights 2. Bryce Dooley had three hits and three RBI, while Joe Chastain added two hits to lead the visiting Panthers.

■ Armstrong-Potomac 8, Schlarman 1. Christian Hunt went 2 for 3 with two RBI to lead the Trojans at Danville Stadium. Corey Buhr also drove in two runs. Gavin Gard drove in the Hilltoppers’ run.

In softball

■ Clinton 12, Cerro Gordo/Bement 2. The host Maroons advanced in Class 2A behind Haley Ginger’s three triples and three RBI. Ginger was one triple shy of tying the state record for triples in a game. Payton Bieber also had three hits and drove in a pair of runs, while winning pitcher Shalyn Houston had two hits and two RBI.

■ Donovan 4, Iroquois West 1. Grace Schroeder scored on a base hit by Tabitha Masterson, but that was the lone tally for the visiting Raiders, who were eliminated in Class 1A.

■ Arcola 10, Neoga 0. Taylor Edwards pitched a complete-game, three-hit shutout with nine strikeouts to help the host Purple Riders advance in Class 1A. Kauryn Karmazinas had two hits and drove in a run, while Sydney Spelman (three RBI) and Faith Spelman (two hits, RBI) also chipped in.

■ Schlarman 12, Shiloh 2. Taylor Rangel went 3 for 3 with two runs and two RBI, while Alexis Rangel added a pair of hits and drove in three runs to lift the host Hilltoppers in Class 1A. Elizabeth Hawkins also drove in three runs, and Shelby Mascari (two runs) had three hits. Jessica Hunt drove in a pair of runs for the Raiders.

■ Armstrong-Potomac 9, Ridgeview 5. Winning pitcher Morgan Zindars struck out eight and she went 3 for 4 with two triples to help the host Trojans advance in Class 1A. Johanna Bruens, Ashley Gayheart and Megan Cain each drove in a pair of runs. Ridgeview’s Taylor Hastings struck out 10 and went 3 for 4.

■ Oakwood 10, Paxton-Buckley-Loda 5. Hannah Grubb doubled twice and scored for the visiting Comets, while Rhylee Kerst drove in a pair of runs in the Class 1A regional. PBL got two hits apiece from Cassie Oyer (RBI, two runs) and Tawney Liggett (two RBI).

■ Milford-Cissna Park 9, Prairie Central 6. Winning pitcher Mindy Garrelts launched a three-run homer in the top of the seventh to help keep the Bearcats alive in the Class 2A regional. Alissa Totheroh added three hits, scored twice and drove in a run. The Hawks got three hits from Sydney Matson and three RBI from Sabrina Gomez.

■ Villa Grove/Heritage 9, Westville 7. Micaela Childress (four hits) and Miranda Pruitt (three hits) each homered to lift VG/H in a Class 2A regional. Cedar Richardson and Myranda Mayhall also had three hits. Morgan Gallion homered for the Tigers, who got three hits from Courtney Miller.

Nontournament
■ Watseka 3, Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley 0. Winning pitcher Taylor Bauer tossed a two-hit shutout, striking out nine, and she doubled and scored to lift the host Warriors. Katie McTaggert added an RBI groundout, and C.J. Crook provided a sacrifice fly. GCMS’ Brianna Walker allowed two hits and struck out eight.

■ Danville 4, Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Chrisman 1. Jeanette Cullum drove in a pair of runs and Kennedy Richards went 3 for 3 to lift the Vikings to the road win. Megan Burton doubled and scored while Katy Aguirre added an RBI for the Vikings, who got 11 strikeouts from Alissa Peelman. Brittany Hay doubled, scored and stole five bases for the Buffaloes.

■ Rantoul 5, Centennial 3. Harley Denny, Taylor Egerton and Logan Wascher each had a hit and an RBI for the visiting Eagles. Centennial got two hits and an RBI from Kaity Wyss.

■ Tri-Valley 5, St. Joseph-Ogden 0. The host Spartans managed two hits.

■ Monticello 11, Shelbyville 1. Allie Hislope (two RBI), Megan Taylor (two RBI) and Megan Magsamen each had two hits to pace the host Sages.

In track and field

■ At Salt Fork. Led by triple winner Blake Reifsteck (100 meters, 200, long jump), the Bismarck-Henning boys won the Vermilion Valley Conference meet ahead of runner-up Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Chrisman. The Blue Devils also got individual wins from Andy Savage (3,200) and Chase Connelly (400). G-RF/C’s Tyler Owen won the high jump and triple jump. Salt Fork’s Taylor Kirby won the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles.
