Big 12 Meet

At Bloomington. The Urbana girls' team notched 97 team points to secure the Big 12 Indoor Championship on Monday. The Tigers had winners in several events, including the 400-meter dash (Kynzee Boastick), the 800 relay (Timiya Johnson, Jyana Anderson, Talia Dought-Burton and Diamonasia Taylor), the 1,600 relay (Boastick, Anderson, Taylor and Shaniya Howard), and the high jump (Taylor). Danville placed third with 72 points as Ameia Wilson won the 60, 200 and long jump, while teammate Shanice Garbutt placed first in the 1,600 and 3,200 for the Vikings. Champaign Central and Centennial finished eighth and ninth, respectively, in the team standings.

In baseball

Monticello 12, LeRoy 0. The Sages scored five runs in the first inning and seven runs in the second inning en route to an easy nonconference win. Alex Marquardt and Mitch Carr teamed up to drive in five Monticello runs, while the Panthers' Caleb Poindexter went 1 for 1.

Paris 10, Salt Fork 0. Salt Fork was shut down by Paris, with Wyatt Boyer recording the lone hit of the game for the Storm.

St. Joseph-Ogden 7, Villa Grove/Heritage 2. Spartan pitchers Austin Cain, Jake Schlueter and Cody Kern teamed up to tally 11 strikeouts to lead SJ-O to a win in its home opener. Adam Rose drove in two runs for the Spartans, while the Hawks attack was paced by Cody Baker and Hayden Hosler, who each drove in one run.

In softball

Argenta-Oreana 23, Warrensburg-Latham 3. The Bombers' offense exploded en route to a 20-run nonconference victory. A-O scored nine runs in the third inning and 11 runs in the fifth inning, with Tatiana Garcia and Maggie Millington combining to drive in 11 runs.

Cerro Gordo/Bement 9, Decatur MacArthur 7. Kadie Dailey tossed a complete game for the Broncos, striking out 15 batters while allowing four walks. She helped her own cause at the plate, smashing a home run to complement the efforts of Ella Mann (4 for 5 with a double, triple and home run) and Tatum Auth (2 for 4 with a home run).

Rantoul 10, Westville 5. The Eagles flew past the Tigers to notch a win on the road. Jada Mosely went 4 for 5 at the plate with two singles, while Gillian Gawenda plated two runs for the Eagles. Westville was led by Lauren Winters, who hit a home run.

Villa Grove 11, Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond 3. Villa Grove rolled past ALAH en route to a season-opening nonconference win. Madie Burwell went 2 for 3, including a double and a triple, to lead the Blue Devils' offensive attack. Molly Day drove in two runs for the Knights, who were largely stifled by Jordyn Ray's seven-inning, five-hit pitching performance.

Danville 4, Meridian 0. The Vikings blanked the Hawks to open their season, with goals from Makenna Weddle, Kayla Liggett, Emma Towne and Lauren Ellis. Towne also notched an assist, while keeper Mary Emma York recorded two saves in the win.NontournamentMahomet-Seymour 7, Uni High 0. The Bulldogs cruised past the Illineks, with Meredith Johnson-Monfort netting three goals, Ainsley Jessup scoring twice and Lily Isaac and Savannah Bennett scoring one goal apiece.

St. Thomas More 3, Bloomington Central Catholic 0. The Sabers blanked BCC, with Izzy Schmitt striking twice in the first half to lead STM to the win. Hayes Murray also tallied a goal for the Sabers.
