Tuesday's prep highlights: Warriors' trio pitches no-hitter in opening win

In baseball

Bismarck-Henning/ Rossville-Alvin 7, St. Thomas More 1. The host Blue Devils (1-1) came alive for a five-run fourth inning in their first win of the season, as Raj Stanford tallied a team-high two RBI and Chase Rademacher struck out eight in four innings of one-hit ball to earn the win. Dawson Dodd also went 2 for 4 at the plate for BHRA and was one of six Blue Devils to tally an RBI. Noah Eyman's run-scoring groundout was the lone RBI for Sabers (0-1) in their season opener.

Tuscola 11, Westville 0. Logan Tabeling, Haden Cothran and Michael Ludwig combined for 15 strikeouts over seven hitless innings in the Warriors' (1-0) season opener on the road. Jalen Quinn highlight Tuscola's 11-hit night at the plate with a 4-for-5 performance featuring three runs scored. Lucas Kresin also tallied three RBI and a run. The Tigers (0-1) struggled on the mound, issuing 13 walks.

In softball

Rantoul 12, Maroa-Forsyth 3. Lexi Sherrick shined both on the mound and at the plate for the Eagles (1-0) in their season-opening victory on the road. She tallied 12 strikeouts and gave up just three runs in 6 1 / 3 innings pitched, pairing nicely with a 4-for-5 hitting effort that included a home run, two doubles and a team-high three RBI. Madisyn Walton, Jada Mosley and Jenna Sanford each supplied two RBI for Rantoul.

In track and field

At Bloomington. Centennial came away from the Big 12 Indoor Championships with a runner-up finish, getting a boost from Antonio Buchanan clearing 6 feet, 2 inches to win the high jump title. He also took third in the triple jump (40-11), while Centennial's 3,200-meter relay of Ben Olaivar, Zach Dixon, Henry Hornbrook and Luke Manolakes also placed first. Quemarii Williams posted a pair of wins for fourth-place Danville in the 200 and 400 dash, while also running a leg of the Vikings' victorious 1,600 relay. Kai Baumgartner took second in the triple jump to pace Champaign Central, while a runner-up finish in the 800 relay (Mike Mboyo, Jerome Rowell, Khamari Tuell and Martel Jones) also led Urbana.

In girls' soccer

Urbana 3, Judah Christian 1. The Tigers (1-0) delivered 28 shots on goal against the Tribe (0-1) in their season-opening win at home, with Allison Perez-Briseno breaking through for two goals and Estephanny Ruiz tallying the other with a team-high seven shots taken.

Bloomington Central Catholic 4, St. Thomas More 2. The rescheduled season opener didn't go as planned for the Sabers (0-1), who fell on their home field in Illini Prairie Conference action.
