Thursday's prep highlights: Hartman sparks Rockets

In girls' basketball

Unity 36, Maroa-Forsyth 24. KENNEDY HARTMAN scored 12 points and MADIE HERBERT added eight points in the Rockets' victory.

Bismarck-Henning 48, Oakwood 11. ABBY BERGMAN had 10 points and EMILY WEINARD and BAILEY BRYANT each hauled in eight rebounds for the Blue Devils.

Clinton 48, Shelbyville 30. MADI BEVINS scored 11 points and the Maroons outscored Shelbyville 12-0 in the second quarter to take command. HALEY TOOHILL chipped in nine points.

Georgetown-Ridge Farm 49, Chrisman 37. ALYSSA SAWYER (13 points) and CALLAN HALL (10) paced G-RF, which outscored the Cardinals 30-16 in the second half. Chrisman's PAIGE THEVENIN had 15 points and 20 rebounds.

Salt Fork 53, Westville 40. HEATHER ELLIS scored 14 of her game-high 20 points in the first half to lift the Storm. STEPHANIE FUNK added 12 points. ASHLEY HOFFMAN scored 11 for the Tigers.

St. Teresa 71, Argenta-Oreana 56. KANDIE BLOCH collected 27 points and 14 rebounds in the Bombers' defeat. HANNAH MILLINGTON added 12 points and 15 rebounds.

Armstrong-Potomac 58, Hoopeston Area 27. BROOKE MARKWALDER scored 17 of her 23 points in the first half as the Trojans cruised. ERIKA SIEBERNS added 10 points and SHAYLA BOEN nine.

Tuscola 47, Meridian 22. ERIN WEAVER scored 13 points and the Warriors bolted to a 30-11 halftime lead. SAMMI KOHLBECKER added 11 points. AMBER MILLER cleared six rebounds.

St. Thomas More 55, Watseka 35. RANDA HARSHBARGER had 14 points and eight steals to spark the Sabers. LEXI WALLEN added 14 points and JADE BRINKOETTER chipped in 11 points and five rebounds. Watseka got 13 points from DEVIN CURRY.

El Paso/Gridley 49, Ridgeview 27. MEGAN JONES had 11 points and eight rebounds for the Mustangs.

Heritage 62, Judah Christian 40. The Hawks rode a 22-8 advantage after one period to a home victory. BAILEY GRIFFIN scored 18 points, MARIAH COLEMAN had 15 and KATIE LANNON added 11 for Heritage. LESLEE CHAMBERS paced the Tribe with 15 points, while MADDIE JOHNSON scored 11 and KRISTINA LEE 10.

Mahomet-Seymour 60, Olympia 9. The Bulldogs led 27-0 after one quarter and 42-3 at the half. KRISTEN BELYEA led Mahomet-Seymour with 12 points.

Pontiac 56, Prairie Central 52. The Hawks got 13 points from GABBY WEBER but squandered an eight-point halftime cushion. SARAH OPRONDEK added 11.

Fisher 48, Blue Ridge 44. JACY COCHRAN and CAITLIN COLE scored 13 points apiece to power the Bunnies. MELINDA WILSON scored 16 to lead Blue Ridge, while JAMISON BRANDT added 12 points. JACQUELYN O'NEAL had eight rebounds and six blocks.

Iroquois West 68, Tri-Point 43. TAYLOR CULTRA scored 19 points and MORGAN SMALL added 14 to lead the Raiders. JEN COX contributed 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Central A&M 55, Monticello 43. ELISE PONTIOUS had 14 points and eight rebounds, but the Raiders held off a late Monticello charge. MEGAN GARRETT scored 11 points.

Schlarman 53, Milford 51. JANELLE MARION had 16 points and 19 rebounds, and the Hilltoppers erased a seven-point deficit entering the fourth quarter. LAURA GROSS chipped in 11 points and four blocks.

In boys' basketball

Urbana Uni 48, Arcola 47. TAHAR BOWEN-PINTO had 19 points and SIMEON WASHINGTON chipped in six rebounds and five assists for the Illineks, who trailed by four points entering the final period. COREY ROBERTS scored 13 and MARTY THOMAS 12 for the Purple Riders.

In wrestling

At Hoopeston. DESTINY ENGLISH (138) pinned an opponent in 61 seconds to lead Hoopeston Area past Oakwood 48-33.

In swimming & diving

At Champaign. Champaign Central defeated Normal West and Urbana behind double winners EVAN MILLER (200-yard free, 100 breast), BLAKE LEHMANN (100 back, 50 free) and SAM STEWART (500 free, 200 IM).
