Monday's highlights: Villa Grove turns to Smith
In girls' basketball
Ridgeview 59, CPCI 31. Megan Jones scored a game-high 20 points and Hallie Johnson added 15, leading the host Mustangs to victory. Alexis Knake sank four three-pointers and scored 14 points for CPCI, which trailed 21-6 after one quarter and never recovered.
Villa Grove 50, Chrisman 19. The Blue Devils outscored Chrisman 18-2 in the second quarter to take command in a home victory. Lizzy Smith led Villa Grove with 17 points, while Courtney Helm contributed 10. Page Thevenin and Melissa Pickett paced the Cardinals with six points apiece.
LeRoy 67, Monticello 45. The Panthers rolled to a home victory behind Ashley Walker's game-high 23 points. Ahead by three points after one quarter, LeRoy outscored the Sages 39-16 in the next two periods. Sarah Foran, who had two three-pointers, and Elise Pontious combined for 22 points for Monticello. Pontious also grabbed 15 rebounds.
Milford 53, Salt Fork 32. Ashlen Portwood's double-double (15 points, 16 rebounds) propelled Milford to a home victory. Portwood also had five steals for the Bearcats, who led 20-8 after the first period. Kelsey Carleton had 11 points for the Storm.
El Paso-Gridley 62, Clinton 47. Despite four three-pointers and 16 points by Madi BEVINS, the Maroons lost at home. Morgan Hickman added 13 points for Clinton.
Arcola 53, Oakwood 28. Freshman Taylor Edwards poured in 20 points to lift Arcola to a road victory. Makenzie Baker led the Comets with 16 points.
In boys' basketball
Donovan 51, Schlarman 38. The Hilltoppers fell to 0-3 in the White Pool of the Watseka Holiday Tournament.
Momence 47, CPCI 41. Sterling Young scored nine points for the Timberwolves in a loss at the Watseka Holiday Tournament.
Watseka 57, Hoopeston Area 33. The Warriors improved to 3-1 in the Maroon Pool of the Watseka Holiday Tournament behind Dylan Schuler's 12 points. Richard Braden added 10. Mason Layden led the Cornjerkers with 13 points.
La Salette 56, Arthur-Okaw Christian 46. Joel Wurm had 22 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Lions in the opener of a home doubleheader. Fellow junior Preston Garno contributed 17 points and eight rebounds. Austin Helmuth led a balanced Arthur-Okaw Christian attack with 12 points. Kevin Beachy and Joshua Hennigsen each added 11 points.
La Salette 63, Tippecanoe 29. La Salette (10-0) took command with a 19-2 advantage in the second quarter. Wurm and Garno combined for 21 points for the Lions.
