Tuesday's highlights: Arcola rides Lindenmeyer to first win
In boys' basketball
Bloomington Central Catholic 74, Monticello 55. DALY O'BRIEN scored 13 points, but the Sages couldn't rally in a home loss. NICK STOKOWSKI added 11 points and 10 rebounds for Monticello (2-5).
Arcola 57, Windsor 37. Arcola outscored Windsor 12-1 in the first quarter — and followed up with a 17-0 advantage in the third period — to cruise to its first win of the season. BRETT LINDENMEYER scored 16 points for the Purple Riders.
Cumberland 41, Arthur 36. TYLER SCHURING scored 14 points for the Knights, who trailed 16-5 after one quarter.
Tuscola 48, Tri-County 32. DUSTIN HAAKE scored 12 points and PHILIP MEYER contributed 12 points and seven rebounds for the Warriors.
At Watseka. JOSH KILLION scored 10 points as Milford topped Beecher 48-36 in pool play at the Watseka Holiday Tournament. AUSTIN CALHOUN scored 19 in Schlarman's 65-51 loss to Kankakee Bishop McNamara. MASON LAYDEN had 20 points in Hoopeston Area's 58-43 loss to Maroa-Forsyth.
Unity 71, St. Thomas More 57. AARON LARSON had 24 points, 13 rebounds and seven blocks and TAYLOR BLACK added 16 points for the Rockets. ALEX THORSON added five steals and 10 assists. MATT RESTAD had 15 points. The Sabers got 21 points from JAYCEE HILLSMAN.
In girls' basketball
Urbana Uni 61, Unity 49. The Illineks outscored Unity 16-4 in the second overtime, mostly through free throws after grabbing seven offensive rebounds, in the nonconference victory. JAMIE BLUE had 25 points and EMMA HOYER 18 for Uni. KENNEDY HARTMAN (12 points) and MADIE HERBERT (12 points, eight rebounds) led the Rockets.
Arthur Okaw Christian 24, DeLand-Weldon 22. HANNA ERWIN had nine points for AOC.
LeRoy 50, Cerro Gordo 26. ASHLEY WALKER scored 16 points as the Panthers improved to 15-1. MOLLY MARCUM chipped in with 15 points.
At LeRoy. DEVIN BULINGTON's pin at 132 pounds was the 85th of his career, tying the school record, as LeRoy beat Petersburg PORTA 63-6. Bulington, 130-7 for his career, broke the 28-year-old school record of 127 career wins Saturday.
In swimming & diving
At Champaign. BLAS GARCIA-CANGA (200-yard individual medley, 100 breaststroke) and GABE OMO-OSAGIE (50 freestyle, 100 free) were double-winners in Centennial's 94-86 loss to Peoria Notre Dame.
