Teams of the Week: LeRoy wrestlers take spotlight

LeROY WRESTLING

The state-ranked Panthers (23-1) repeated as champions of the Heart of Illinois Conference, winning all five dual meets. Out of a possible 70 individual matches, LeRoy wrestlers won 63 of them. In nine weight classes, the Panthers (second in Class 1A) were 5-0 during the competition.

MONTICELLO BOYS' BASKETBALL

The Sages extended their winning streak to seven games, including a quarterfinal upset of second-seeded Meridian in the Okaw Valley Conference tournament. Sophomore Nick Stokowski has been in double figures in 13 of the last 14 games while putting up eight double-doubles.

DANVILLE GIRLS' BASKETBALL

The Vikings (8-14) won both of their games and have been victorious in five of their last six games. Senior J'Lynn Ayers had back-to-back 20-point games, and junior Alexus Jimson-Miller hit all four of the team's three-pointers for the week. Junior Breanna Keys averaged double figures for the week.

CPCI BOYS' BASKETBALL

The Timberwolves (16-6) are one of the hottest teams around. After three wins in five days, CPCI has won 11 of its last 13 games. Cole Hasselbring scored in double figures in all three games. Four teammates had at least one double-figure game: Beau Anderson, Alex Rabe, Rick Trask and Sterling Young.
